Welcome to Rhyl Yacht Club |
Rhyl Yacht Club is situated in the heart of the popular holiday resort
of Rhyl, which stands on the east side of the mouth of the river Clwyd.
The club was founded in 1880 and currently has over 120 members. We
offer a warm welcome to visitors of any age and sailing ability.
Location
Rhyl is located on the Irish Sea, with a population of around 35,000.
Manchester and Liverpool Airports are both only a short distance away, whilst the super
ferries from Ireland connect with Holyhead with direct rail links to the resorts.
If you have yet to visit Rhyl, you will not be disappointed with the
raft of activities that are on offer to all age groups. Including the
Crown Green Bowling Centre, Events Arena, Sea-Life Centre, Rhyl's
Children's Village, Multiplex Cinema, the 80 metre high Skytower,
paddling pool, boating pool and miniature golf. If these activities
don't tempt you, you might like to know that there are 6 miles of golden
sands that stretch between Rhyl and Prestatyn and with a range of shops
(including Marks and Spencers) and a variety of restaurants. There is plenty to keep any non sailors busy.
Club House
The club house is situated at the mouth of the harbour with easy access
to all local amenities. Our current clubhouse offers members a
comfortable lounge and bar area, with kitchen, toilet and changing
facilities.
We are delighted to announce that we have raised sufficient funds to enable
us to construct a new clubhouse, which we are hoping to have completed
by the end of the year (‘08). We are very excited by the prospect of a
new clubhouse with extra facilities including improved disabled access. We are
hoping to be able to offer members the opportunity to hire the clubhouse
for functions.
Visitors and members alike are more than welcome to use our onsite
facilities; electricity, water, slip way and ample car parking.
The club offers members very competitive rate for winter lay-ups.
Sailing Area
The sailing area offered by Rhyl’s superb location opens up a wide
range of sailing, no matter how experienced you are. Rhyl is the ideal starting point
for trips to Anglesey, Isle of Man, Ireland, South/Mid Wales and
West Scotland.
